Digital Demo Day [June]
June 30 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Join us for our next Digital Demo Day, when you’ll hear from project leads FoodX and Wisebox Solutions about the digital solutions they’ve developed to enable food retailers and producers to support their operations. These projects have allowed local businesses and producers to adapt to a challenging environment, while investing in new capabilities to mitigate food waste and satisfy growing consumer demands for fresh food delivery.
Here’s what you can look forward to:
– A community update from the Supercluster
– A presentation/demo of Scaling Safe Food Delivery from Bryan Imrie, Senior Program Manager at FoodX
– A presentation/demo of DirectFood.store from Colin Schmidt, Senior VP of Product Development at Wisebox Solutions
The Scaling Safe Food Delivery project consortium is developing a scalable eGrocery Management Solution (eGMS) for small and large retailers to increase food delivery throughput, remain competitive, and offer citizens a reliable contactless grocery delivery service. FoodX and its partners are building and integrating a suite of software-based tools that will help eGrocery fulfillment centre employees and e-commerce business managers effectively manage the day-to-day online grocery operations at scale and remain competitive in the digital economy.
DirectFood.store provides consumers, restaurants, and charities with free delivery and no minimum order size for purchases placed directly from local farms and vendors. Separate invoices and card charges for each farm and vendor reinforce that they’re buying direct, even though they have the convenience of shopping in a shared regional marketplace with all their food arriving together. The unique delivery model and logistics software shorten the supply chain to enable just-in-time harvesting. As a result, the food is fresher and healthier while limiting food waste and environmental impact.
